Ex #76 ATP, Michal Przysiezny
of Poland (photo), reached his first challenger final since Helsinki 2010. His opponent, Japanese Hiroki Moriya
, will play in his first challenger final ever. These two are at different stages in their careers, but they both achieved season's best in the last performance of the year. 28-year-old Przysiezny won this year 3 ITF titles. Six years younger Moriya's
best successes were qualifying for the US Open, beating Robin Haase
in Bangkok and making the semifinal of Kyoto Challenger.
In the semifinal in Toyota Przysiezny defeated Australian John Millman
7-6(3) 6-2. Earlier he took out Yokohama winner, 3rd seeded Matteo Viola
had his revenge for Yokohama QF loss over top seeded Yuichi Sugita
. In the Toyota semifinal Moriya prevailed 7-6(5) 6-2. The round before he upset Jimmy Wang
of Taipei (#4).
The finalists have never met before. Currently Moriya looks more stable with his results, he also plays at home, that's why he appears as slightly bigger favourite, but Przysiezny has experience on his side and the hunger for success after a long drought.
