Robert Kendrick suspension : 12 months for methylhexaneamine
American tennis player Robert Kendrick banned for one year for using methylhexaneamine at Roland Garros 2011 - we can read in International Tennis Federation's statement.
31-year-old Kendrick defends himself the stimulant got into his body via a jet lag pill. "We understand the explanation, but the suspension must be held," informed ITF representants. The American didn't hold a valid TUE paper - a therapeutical use exemption file.
Kendrick also forfeits all the points and money from French Open till now. The player from Fresno, California, lost in the first round of Roland Garros to Guillermo Garcia Lopez from Spain. In the next tournament he lost to Dmitry Tursunov in the first round of the grass event in Hertogenbosch. He hasn't competed later on.
He has achieved his career high ranking of #69 in 2009. He is the best known for leading 2-0 in sets against Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon 2006 before losing in five. In years 2002-2010 he won 10 challengers, nine of them in USA, one in Mexico.
