After this "fixers watchlist" has been published, security probably doubled up and players speak through ATP officials. Unsurprisingly, many people from that list are playing Moscow. Philipp Kohlschreiber was kind enough to answer a few questions on his way to the shower in an informal way after he defeated Gilles Muller in 2nd round of Kremlin Cup.
It was a very convincing win for you today.
He served well, so it wasn't easy, but it's true - I played a good match - returned well, I was quick. I am happy about the way I showed up on the court.
Tomorrow you face Jeremy Chardy. He'll be also serving big.
I know this opponent; I faced him and I lost. But it was a different story. On clay and 2-3 years ago.
Last year.
No.
2010 in Dusseldorf.
Uh. Yeah. *not convinced* So it will be a different match now.
How do you feel about this season? You won Halle but apart from that highlight it's been quite poor.
Of course, it's bittersweet. Halle was a good week, but I dropped like 20 places in the ranking, so I am focusing on the next season to catch up with the points lost. I play here well, my shape is improving, so I am optimistic.
You're considered one of the most talented players on tour who have never had a breakthrough. Could you explain it?
*laugh* Yes. Nice. You know, there is me and there are other guys, who are not just standing and watching me play. So this is why it's not easy.
You have problems with closing matches out.
Yeah. I guess that is the issue.
