Estonian Jurgen Zopp beat defending champion Marius Copil from Romania 7-6(4) 7-6(4) to win his first challenger title in Kazan, Russia.
Before the match Zopp was considered a slight favourite, although Copil has presented himself well throughout the week, because he peaks here. As expected, the match was tight but 23-year-old Estonian prevailed. After participating last year in two challenger finals finally a time for victory has come. Currently ranked #139 ATP should advance to the edge of top 120. He seems ready to compete for high goals in challengers and surely is ready to advance to main tour events through qualifying - like he did this year in Australian Open.
For three years younger Copil this final was the biggest success since the Kazan win in 2011. He proves he is able to play well, but can he carry this shape outside his favourite city?
