Two finals that were very different in terms of the gulf between the finalists this week.
Julia Boserup's destructive form continued as she smashed her way past
Lauren Davis. On the other hand, it took two tie-break sets to finally separate the Pliskova twins.
Julia Boserup won the first nine games of her final against Davis and after that, there was barely a chance of a comeback. Boserup's toughest match in the tournament in terms of games dropped was her first round match against
Rio Kitagawa and she won that one 6-1 6-3.
Boserup has been granted a wild card into the 100k event in Midland next week and if she keeps playing as she is can really shake up the draw despite numerous top 100 players playing the event. Seems like Todd Norman's new footwork drill is woking well for her.

Karolina Pliskova beat her sister in two very tight sets. Some of their matches in the past have been very one sided, but it was anything but today as both fought as hard as they could for the title.
Karolina was 5-2 up in the first set, but was pegged back by Kristyna and taken into a long tie-break that finished 13-11. The next set and there was no sign of
Kristyna Pliskova folding. Still, the tie-break was more straightforward, 7-3 match point won on a wild return by Kristyna.
A potentially exciting 2012 for the pair has started very well indeed.
