evgeny donskoyEvgeny Donskoy is the main young hope of Russian tennis. He gives an exclusive interview to our reporter.

How has your adventure with tennis started? How do you treat tennis now?

At 6 and half years old I started this adventure! My teacher for piano told me that in our city a new tennis club had opened! We came there with my father and started to enjoy this sport!

This is a very expensive sport – coach, court training, balls, recovery, ticket for the whole world – How do you cope whit all these expenses? Do you have any sponsors, maybe support of the National Federation?

At the beginning it was not hard, we didn't spend so much money. Then it started to cost more. So then we spent our money, but it was not enough! One guy helped us a little bit. It was also not enough. Then we were again alone! We spent our money and it was sooo tough! And at 16 years old I came to Austria to practice and the coach found me a sponsor who started to help me full time and he still helps me! If not this Man, I would have finished already to play! He saved me!

Some Russian players change their nationality for Kazakhstan, what do you think about it?

What can I say! It's good!

When you train, do you have a coach?

Yes I have a coache! I am practicing in Spain. In MTA (masia tennis academy) I like everything there so much! Every time I have coach with me on the tournaments!

Do you have any pre-match rituals?

Not really! Don't have

Does cheering from the stands help you get the better play or not? Especially in foreign tournaments.

Yes, I like when people support me! But not when so so much. For me it's better 50-50 for me and my opponent!

What is your favorite surface ? And tournament on the tour?

Amm, I like not since long time ago, bit clay! And of couse I like hard and everything indoor! All Russians like indoor)) I like many tournaments! Like Moscow and St. Petersburg!

What are your plans for the break between seasons?

My plan is to be home I think. I don't wanna fly anywhere!

What are your interests? What are you doing in your free time?

I don't have so much free time! When I am in Moscow (it's not happening so many time in the year) I'm trying to spend time with friends. And when I am in Spain I like to go on karting and beach!

Whom you don't like to play (What style of game)?

I don't know. Doesn't matter against whom to play, matters only how you're gonna play against him.

And whom do you like to play (What style of game)?

The same.

Do you change a profile game style depending on the various surfaces?

No, not really.

How do you treat doubles?

I like to play doubles, but I didn't play so much this year!! But I like to play.

Your the best friend on the tennis tour?

Amm, I am really good friends with Kuznetsov, Belyaev and Rumyantsev! All Russians as you can see))) and of course I am good friends with others!

Your best side and your weakness side on court?

My best side is when I can hit from forehand.

What are you dreaming of now? What can we wish for you? What do you want achieve in your career?

I am dreaming now to get to the top 100 firstm and then more of course)) and in career - like everybody - I want to be on top!!)))

Tomek
